We hope you can attend, but if not, your generous support will help us pay for the venue, finance overseas travelers, compensate speakers and much more. As an international community, together we can move forward our vital contribution to the health of the ecosphere and all of its inhabitants.

COSBA is a group of dedicated people committed to human shelter while conserving natural resources. We are a 100 percent volunteer staff undertaking the hosting of the 2012 International Straw Builders' Conference. The funds even to meet the costs of producing the conference have not yet been realized, but we are working hard and things are looking good. We are appealing to the broad natural building community as well as philanthropic and eco-friendly organizations and individuals to recognize that an international venue such as this is a rare opportunity to gather and exchange just the kind of information that makes sustainable sense.

We need your support.

The theme for the conference is Building Resilience for Our Collective Future… Inspired By Nature. Resilience is a broadly interpreted term that calls on our creativity, our ingenuity, our design and building skills, and on our hearts to create an adaptive response to change. In this community, it is the call for solutions that respond to the balance among:

  • housing for all
  • sustainability
  • adaptable responses to changing conditions around the planet.

The conference will also include an expo of non-governmental organizations and individuals working on projects and solutions designed with the majority of the world’s population in mind; people facing housing challenges for climate adaptation, disaster relief or lack of ‘conventional’ resources.
